Two voices. One story. You choose. We leap.

Three Successful Shows

Thanks to all the organisers of the open mic nights this week who put together such a terrific selection of artists and creatives. We've had such fun in the audience as well as on the stage. Above is the Charing Cross Library where, according to First Time Tales, Ehrling Haaland shot ferrets out of his trousers. Special thanks to the wonderful DJ who ran the night, David is the most warm and sensitive compere we've ever seen. A true delight! We experienced Tales At The Tavern for the first time - and it will not be the last. A more talented and welcoming group of storytellers you could not find, together we wove a story of a knife-sharpening clown that was surprisingly wholesome, and saw not a single person hurt. Lastly, thanks to the vibrant Simprov, whose professionalism and attention to detail are an inspiration. They were treated to a grand operatic vision of the end of the earth, with a firebreathing dragon taking some terrible advice from Father Christmas.

Next we're down to the coast on Thursday for a Brighton Kollab. We can't wait to see what happens there. Until next time!

A Busy Week!

In the first week of August we'll be performing three shows, our busiest yet. Pick your poison - come to Simprov on Tuesday for a wild eclectic night of impro, or come to the legendary Tales At The Tavern on Wednesday for classical storytelling, or finish the week at the chill Charing Cross Library where music, song, and poetry are all welcome. All the info is here x

Performing at the Copper Cats

We'll next be seen at the Copper Cats in Stoke Newington on the 23rd of July. 7pm kick-off, we'll be on a bit later.

Elephant Tales

Over a sweltering weekend in July, First Time Tales were made to feel very welcome at the community storytelling club Elephant Tales in Elephant & Castle, South London. Lots of fun stories were shared, including a terrific Bulgarian folktale of celestial marriage, by the skilled Francesca Mackenzie.

As for First Time Tales, we found ourselves in a Heathrow departure lounge with serpent-haired Medusa whose skill in organisation proved irresistible to the goddess of love herself, Aphrodite!

The Very First Time

David and Colette are delighted to say that First Time Tales' debut performance at the Fireside Folktales Fringe in London was a resounding success!

Between us, the audience and First Time Tales discovered cuddly hairy monsters, an elegant man who clung to trees in a decidedly spooky manner, a merman of impressive self-awareness when it came to affairs of the heart, and a drummer who somehow brought forth ecstatic music when she was lost, alone, and without her instruments.

We are currently making plans for our next outings, you can stay in touch with us by joining our mailing list.

First Time Tales: the improvised story show

Be part of a story created before your very eyes! Told like the tales of old, experience a story as it's discovered for the very first time. First Time Tales brings out stories of love and excitement and laughter, of deception and tragedy and revenge, of recognition and healing and triumph, woven from the threads brought by YOU the audience. Your collaboration ensures that every moment is happening right here, right now, for the very first time.
